Dental Crowns Orange County

A dental crown is made of dental porcelain and is used to either replace teeth to create a more aesthetic appearance, or to replace a damaged tooth.

A porcelain crown is sculpted into a tooth that closely matches your current teeth’s shape and replaces your tooth at the gum level.

The dental porcelain that makes up the crown replicates the look and strength of actual teeth enamel.

Reasons to Get Crowns for Teeth

Crowns are extremely helpful in scenarios such as:

  • Tooth decay
  • Traumatic tooth event
  • Serious enamel eroding
  • Broken tooth
  • Chipped tooth

Many times we will see clients who grind their teeth at night too much, causing their teeth to become deformed or chipped. Crowns are created and implanted to replace your teeth that are suffering from the issues above, and are many times even stronger and better looking than the original tooth.

The Procedure

Typically the procedure consists of 3 steps:

  1. Tooth Crown Consultation
  2. Shaping The Crown
  3. Crown Implant

1. Tooth Crown Consultation

A dental crown consultation generally begins with your dentists asking questions about the affected tooth or teeth. Our dentist will then begin to gently examine your mouth for external issues. We may also take some X-rays to inspect the bone around the tooth as well as the tooth’s roots.

After this, our dentist will begin to understand what the most effective treatment will be for your unique teeth size and bite.

2. Molding the Crown

Depending on the condition of the tooth, the area around it will be numbed and will either be filed down or built up to make room for the crown that will be laid over the existing tooth. Then we gently press a putty onto your tooth that will be used to make the crown fit snugly over your tooth.

We send these molds to our lab and we will reschedule your second meeting where we will implant the permanent crown.

3. Crown Implant:

Once we receive the mold and you are back in our dental office, we will apply our local anesthetic and cement the crown onto your tooth so it stays in permanently.

The great thing about our state-of-the-art dental facility is that we are able to make the porcelain crowns be virtually identical to the shape, shade, and size of your tooth.

So you won’t have to worry about any teeth looking out of place or fake. We use the most advanced technology to ensure all of our clients are happy with their crowns!
